Harlow was designated a new town in 1947 and built to a plan, with neighbourhoods separated by green wedges and sculpture put up in the streets on purpose. Saffron Walden, twenty miles north, is the opposite: a medieval market town with a maze of old streets. Great Dunmow sits between them.

Harlow Online covers all three.
