Harlow's Remembrance Sunday is 8 November 2026 at Netteswell Cross, Town Park. Last year the march left at 10.30am and School Lane shut 10am to noon.

Remembrance Sunday falls on Sunday 8 November 2026, the second Sunday of the month, and Harlow’s main service will again be at the Netteswell Cross war memorial at the top of School Lane, by Harlow Town Park. The Royal British Legion’s Harlow Town branch organises it. It has not yet published this year’s timings, so the times below are last year’s, which have been stable.

The quick answer

  • Sunday 8 November 2026, Netteswell Cross war memorial, School Lane, Harlow Town Park.
  • In 2025 the march left Burnt Mill at 10.30am and the service began at 10.45am; the council’s 2024 notice put the two minutes’ silence at 11am.
  • School Lane closed to traffic from 10am to noon last year. Expect the same.

What happened last year

For Sunday 9 November 2025, Harlow Council published the closure notice: “School Lane will be closed to traffic from 10am to 12pm.” Your Harlow’s preview of the service, which carries the council’s post, gave the order of the morning:

  • 10am: School Lane closes to traffic
  • 10.30am: the march sets off from Burnt Mill down to the memorial
  • 10.45am: the service starts
  • noon: School Lane reopens

The service was led by the Reverend Michael Ryman. Harlow MP Chris Vince, the chairman of Harlow Council and the Deputy Lord Lieutenant were among those there, with service associations, political parties, scouts and guides, according to Your Harlow’s report on the day. Anyone can attend; there is no ticket.

In 2024 the council’s own Remembrance notice asked spectators to gather at 10.30am at the top of School Lane and walk down to the cross for the silence at 11am.

Armistice Day, Wednesday 11 November

Armistice Day is a Wednesday this year. In the last two years Harlow has marked the day itself in three places:

  • Harlow Council, outside the Civic Centre. In 2024 the council held its own service led by the chair of the council, asking people to arrive by 10.50am.
  • Old Harlow: the Harlow War Memorial Institute hosted a ceremony on 11 November 2025 on the green opposite the Victoria Hall Theatre (Your Harlow).
  • Potter Street: the community gathered at the memorial at the top of the green on London Road on 11 November 2025, led by Rev Alison Taylor of the Baptist Church, with the silence at 11am (Your Harlow).

Harlow’s war memorials

The council’s armed forces page names four main memorials and says it holds remembrance events at war memorial sites each November:

Memorial Postcode
Netteswell and Burnt Mill Memorial Cross CM20 2QD
Great Parndon Memorial Cross CM19 4HB
Potter Street Memorial Cross CM17 9NG
Old Harlow Memorial Cross CM17 0JT

The Festival of Remembrance

In 2024 the Legion branch followed the Sunday service with a Festival of Remembrance at Harlow Playhouse at 6.30pm, with Harlow Brass Band and the Moot House Players, according to the council’s notice. Harlow Playhouse’s listings, read on 25 September 2026, do not include a 2026 festival. We will add it if one is booked.
